About Portland District Health

Portland District Health provides an integrated health
service which comprises acute, primary health and aged residential care
service. Our health service provides:

  • 24-hour, 7 days a week Urgent Care Centre (Emergency Department)
  • 69 registered inpatient beds
  • 2 operating theatres
  • 8-bed day procedure unit, Plus Chemotherapy / Dialysis / Sleep Studies
  • 30 bed residential aged care facility (Harbourside Lodge)
  • Comprehensive range of Primary Health, Community and Home Care services
  • GP Superclinic (Active Health Portland)
  • PDH Specialist Centre (visiting specialist centre)
  • Portland District Health is accredited with the Australian Council on Healthcare
    Standards, the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency Ltd, and Home

Postgraduate Medical Education

1. Weekly mandatory protected teaching Wednesday 0730 – 0830 at PDH

2. Weekly mandatory protected teaching Fridays 08300930 at Active Health

3. Weekly mandatory protected teaching with SWHC Thursday 1200 – 1300 (this is off-site, delivered via
videoconferencing)

4. Regular Teaching – on – the – run sessions in the wards and emergency

5. Regular education sessions organised by education department

6. Library 

      1. Universal access to on-line UpToDate is available onsite and off-site

2. Access available to Deakin University library through subscription which PDH will facilitate
