Twilight Market this Friday

Portland District Health is looking forward to engaging with the community while also raising funds at its twilight community market this Friday February 17 from 4.30pm.

This is PDH’s first market since 2019 and the heath service expects it will be bigger and better than ever.

“We are all counting down to Friday,” CEO Sam Sharp said. “PDH plays an important role in creating a healthier community and bringing people together and it’s great that we’re able to connect with the community this way,” she said.

“The market gives the health service an opportunity to raise funds for new equipment to improve facilities and services for local people, while giving everyone an opportunity to interact and enjoy a variety of local stalls.”

The PDH staff are looking forward to hosting their own stalls, displays and food sales to raise funds for their individual departments. “There’s a bit of healthy competition brewing between the teams,” Ms Sharp added.

PDH is encouraging those attending to bring cash to assist with speedy payment at stalls.

The market will feature many stalls, music, games and food which are being run in partnership with Portland Community Markets.

“The market has received great interest and support from stall holders and we have worked closely with Portland Community Markets to make sure it will be a fun time for everyone,” Ms Sharp said.

There will be a strong focus on local goods.

A new attraction at this year’s event will be a display from the Portland & District Motor Enthusiasts Club.

The market will be held on the Ploughed Field to allow more displays and spread out the stalls.

PDH is encouraging people to give a gold coin donation on entering to assist with covering the cost of generators and set up.

The winners of PDH’s colouring competition will also be displayed at the market.
