What is an Exercise Physiologist?

An exercise physiologist is a healthcare professional who provides information and advice about exercise to help manage and prevent injuries and chronic and complex medical conditions

 

Core Business

  • Individual and group-based exercise interventions for prevention, management and rehabilitation for ‘specific populations’ e.g. diabetics, cardiac, pulmonary, oncology, neurological conditions etc.
  • Optimising activities of daily living and functional capacity through exercise education and prescription; improving quality of life
  • Lifestyle promotion, awareness and education to optimise incidental activity, physical activity and exercise levels; encouraging maintainable lifestyle changes
