OUR SERVICES

Staff Development Unit/Education

Portland District Health operates a Learning Centre supporting organisational learning and workforce development across the health service. The Learning Centre, opened in September 2016, features a Skill Lab with simulation equipment, an audiovisual tutorial room, webinar and teleconferencing capabilities, a learning management system, study rooms, computers, and virtual library access.

The organisation provides traineeship programs, postgraduate training, and leadership development. Staff access mandatory and recommended learning through the regional "GROW" learning management system, and clinical assessments in areas like manual handling and infection control complement online training.

PDH partners with universities, TAFEs, and local registered training organisations for student placements. The Graduate Nurse Program recruits approximately 6 nurses annually, and the service offers collaborative graduate positions rotating across Portland, Hamilton, and Port Fairy health services.
