Operating Theatre and Surgery
The Operating Suite has 2 operational Theatres and provides surgical services Monday to Thursday from 8am to 5pm for elective procedures, with 24/7 emergency surgery availability.
Services include general surgery, laparoscopic gallbladder/hernia, orthopaedic surgery (including knee and hip joints), ENT one day per month, obstetrics, and gynaecology, plastic surgery (non-cosmetic), and eye surgery (cataracts).
At the Pre-Admission Clinic patients can discuss their surgery with a nurse. This is available Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm. Patients may be required to attend an Anaesthetic Clinic for a consultation pre-operatively.
The Day Procedure Unit (DPU) admits and discharges day only patients, but ward admission may be necessary.
After day surgery with general anaesthetic or intravenous sedation, patients must arrange transportation with a support person and generally have a carer present for 24 hours post-procedure.
