Our Medical Imaging Services
PDH Medical Imaging offers a range of bulk-billed diagnostic imaging services to support patients, general practitioners, specialists and other healthcare providers.
General X-ray
General X-ray imaging assists in the diagnosis and assessment of a wide range of conditions, including injuries, fractures and chest or joint concerns. Our service provides imaging to support your healthcare professional in planning your ongoing care.
Dental Imaging
Our dental imaging services support dentists and other dental professionals in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning of dental and jaw conditions. Services include Orthopantomography (OPG), Cephalometry and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), which provides detailed three-dimensional images of the teeth, jaw and surrounding structures when clinically indicated.
Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
Bone densitometry measures bone mineral density and can assist in assessing bone health, including the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Your healthcare professional may recommend this examination to help monitor bone density and guide treatment.
Computed Tomography (CT)
CT uses specialised x-ray technology to produce detailed cross-sectional images of the body. These examinations assist in investigating a range of medical conditions and provide valuable information to support diagnosis and treatment.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce images of internal organs, soft tissues, blood vessels and other structures. Depending on the clinical indication, ultrasound can assist in the assessment of a wide range of conditions and is commonly used in abdominal, pelvic, musculoskeletal and other examinations.
Breast Screen
PDH Medical Imaging proudly offers breast screening mammography services to eligible women as part of the BreastScreen Victoria program. Information about breast screen services, eligibility criteria and appointment arrangements is available at www.breastscreen.org.au. Alternatively, call 13 20 50 for screening information or to make an appointment.
Booking an Appointment
Appointments for medical imaging are arranged according to the type of examination required and the request provided by your healthcare professional. To book an appointment:

Obtain a request from your GP, dentist, specialist or other referring healthcare professional.

Call PDH Medical Imaging on (03) 5521 0320 or walk in to discuss your examination and available appointment times.

Follow any preparation instructions provided by our team before attending your appointment.
Some examinations require specific preparation, so please let our team know if you have any questions or need clarification before your visit.
What to bring: your request, relevant identification and any previous imaging information requested by our team.

Finding Us
PDH Medical Imaging is located within Portland District Health. The department is situated to the left of main reception and is well sign-posted. If you are unsure where to go when you arrive, please ask at the hospital's main reception for directions.
We recommend allowing sufficient time to arrive, check in and complete any necessary preparation before your appointment.
Please note: all outpatients are required to complete an Assignment of Benefit Patient Election Form at each visit to PDH Medical Imaging for the purpose of bulk billing.
