Volunteers are an important part of Portland District Health, an enthusiastic group of people sharing their time, skills and life experiences with us to support clients, patients, staff and the wider community. By providing the time, enthusiasm and dedication these volunteers work alongside heal care professional staff to add value to our communities healthcare and other services.
Some areas where volunteers are currently involved:
Support in the hospital
Volunteers are involved in a number of activities throughout the hospital, supporting both the patients and the staff.
Support to Palliative Care patients and their families in the community. Volunteers must complete an intensive training program in Palliative Care before entering patient’s residence etc.
Meals on Wheels
Volunteers are involved in the delivery of meals in the volunteers own car, to residents in their own homes.
Enjoy some time with the residents doing craft, activities, excursions and spending time sitting and chatting to residents.
