Harbourside Lodge was built in 2007, to replace the ageing Seymour Cundy Wing Aged Care Facility. Our home is fully accredited and government funded to provide residential aged care and services under the banner of Portland District Health.

We have 3 different room types available:

  • 14 single rooms with private ensuite
  • 8 single rooms with ensuite shared between 2 residents
  • 4 double rooms with ensuite

Rooms are furnished with an adjustable single bed; built in wardrobe; bedside drawers; an over-bed table; 32” television (at a cost); a split system unit for heating and cooling; and of course personal access to the adjoining ensuite. Rooms that share an ensuite will have an access door each. A telephone may be accessed if required to have in the room.

We encourage the personalisation of bedrooms to create a homely environment that you can recognise and be comfortable in.

Environment

The facility has a bright and welcoming environment, with many windows offering garden or courtyard views. Some even offering a sea view.

The large activities room provides residents with an area where they can:

  • participate in large/small group or solo activities,
  • watch TV/movies on the large screen TV with DVD player,
  • utilise the space for time with their loved ones

The activities room opens onto a garden courtyard area.

The dining/lounge room has ample space for residents to share a meal with other residents and family, a large screen TV with DVD player and armchairs for resident and visitor comfort.

Lifestyle

A wide variety of activities are organised on a monthly basis, which are displayed on calendars throughout the facility. An Activities Coordinator and staff work Monday-Friday, and some Sundays where able. The activities staff are greatly supported during the week by a number of volunteers.

Residents of Harbourside Lodge are encouraged to maintain their independence and continue their involvement in community and social activities.

Staffing

Harbourside Lodge has a professional team of staff to support residents and their families. This team comprises of registered nurses (RNs), endorsed enrolled nurses (EENs) and enrolled nurses (ENs) supported by activities staff. Access to allied health services, specialised nurses, and if required emergency medical care, is available through Portland District Health

Meals

Nutritionally appropriate meals are provided by PDH catering department which cater to individual residents needs as per their dietary requirements/assessments/preferences.

Medical Care

You may retain your own GP to care for your medical needs in Harbourside Lodge if they are able to provide a visiting service. Please talk to your doctor about this.

If your doctor is unable to continue their care while you are in Harbourside Lodge, you will need to source a new GP who is credentialed with Portland District Health to visit Harbourside Lodge.  Please note that we are unable to admit without a GP who is willing to visit Harbourside Lodge. Hospital doctors are unable to provide ongoing medical care to residents in a residential care facility.
